Possibilities has six trustees who are responsible for the running of the charity.

We are all volunteers and have been challenged by the resilience and profound hardship that our children have been handed and feel passionate about helping those who are not as fortunate as ourselves.

Mr Rob Pattison  -  Chairman


Rob is a Computer Network Engineer. He has 18 years experience in the education sector and several years running his own IT Support business. Additionally he is experienced with working for children with severe behavioural problems enabling them to access an education in a mainstream environment. He has 10 years experience of working in Africa on behalf of Possibilities. In 2010 Rob was voted a 'Great Briton' in a national competition for his philanthropic work for Possibilities. In recognition of this he was also honoured to carry the Olympic flame in the Torch Relay of 2012. Rob is chairman of the charity

Mr Peter Gunter  -  Treasurer


Peter, is a retired secondary school teacher, he finished his career as the inaugural principal of an independent special school for children with severe educational and behavioural problems. He has over 35 years experience in both the state and public education system. He has taught mathematics, information & communication technology and physical education. Peter has also worked for europe's leading independent provider of acute mental health care, secure and step down services, specialist education, complex care and neuro-rehabilitation services, fostering and care homes. With this background Peter is well equipped to advise on general educational standards and in particular on the schooling that we pay for. He has a keen interest in many sports, he enjoys hill walking and has previously gained experience in the professional sporting world. Peter is the charity treasurer.

Dr. Denise Pattison  -  Trustee


Denise is a local GP and mother of three.  She has over 30 years experience of general healthcare in the UK. She has also worked in India in a remedial slum clinic providing basic healthcare to the residents of the Ramesh Nagar Slum in the east of Mumbai. She also has considerable experience working with children and the elderly and has a particular interest in dealing with Alzheimic patients from first hand experience. Along with Rob she has several years’ experience of Uganda, its people and their general health problems. She is a regular visitor to Uganda.

Rev. Nancy Baird  -  Secretary

Nancy is a retired teacher and a priest in the Anglican Church. She has first hand experience of life in East Africa, having worked in Kenya for several years where she was involved in training teachers of deaf children.  Currently she has some involvement with a church in Tanzania.  She has a broad understanding of East Africa and has visited Uganda on several occasions.

Mrs Jan Vince  -  Trustee


Jan is mother to six children of her own. She has a wealth of experience with Special Educational Needs and takes a keen interest in home schooling. Jan was involved with Possibilities from the outset and became a trustee in 2008. She has a particular interest in young children. Jan was treasurer for several years and stood down from that role in May 2012.
